What is a Yeek? It takes one to know one, they say. And so it is with Yeeks—a powerful and exclusive magical order whose purposes and membership remain tightly guarded. What little is known about the Yeeks is this: that they are recognized at birth, and taken from their parents by other Yeeks to study the arcane within the confines of a powerful and exclusive secret society.
Very few individuals are confirmed Yeeks, but there are many rumors. And there are more than a few who claim the birthright of the Yeek, but are not. True Yeeks are magic wielders who venture far beyond the boundaries of conventional magic and subvert the expectations of what is possible. Their signature summoning and conjuration rituals open up portals to bizarre worlds of wonder and horror—worlds no non-Yeek eye has ever or will ever behold.
Or so I am told.
Anzia, once an orphan in a crowded city underbelly, has spread her name far and wide as a great and powerful Yeek. But is she truly a Yeek, or a pretender? Anzia merely smiles whenever someone asks. As for my part, I repeat: it takes one to know one. Alas, for I am not a Yeek!
